About Insurance

  • Some insurance policies do cover acupuncture care but this office makes no representation that yours does. This office is a preferred provider with Aetna but not all policies are the same resulting in different benefit packages. If your benefits package does cover acupuncture treatment there can be limitations by your insurer to what acupuncture can treat. These often include chronic low back pain, chronic neck pain, and headaches. This office can accept Aetna medicare advantage plans for the treatment of chronic low back pain. Insurance restrictions and benefits variability require for eligibility to be confirmed over the phone prior to accepting insurance for payment. We aim to obtain this verification as quickly as possible once we have received the insured’s information. Our office will not accept insurance for payment until eligibility verification has been received. The client is responsible for all applicable co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance fees.

  • There are an increasing number of insurance policies that do offer acupuncture benefits. If your policy does we can provide super bills that you can submit to your insurer to process your visits. In some circumstances we may be able to submit insurance claims directly to your insurer for you. Our office will not accept insurance as part of payment until verification of eligibility has been received. Because of the variance from one insurance policy to another, we require that you, the client, be personally responsible for the payment of your deductibles as well as any unpaid balances in this office. We will do our best to verify your insurance coverage and bill your insurance in a timely manner.

  • Acupuncture is a therapy that can be included in a worker’s compensation treatment plan. In order for our office to bill a worker’s compensation insurance plan we must first receive an authorization that treatment will be paid for from the employer or its insurance company. We prefer that the physician chosen by the employer or its insurance company also send a referral requesting acupuncture. This helps maintain coordination and communication between providers of the client’s care team.
